Good luck to Trevor, Wyatt, Devin, and Tyler as they go with their undefeated Team “the Patriots” this weekend to Ohio for a football game. They will win back the honor for Nebraska!


Congratulations to those students who auditioned and got into the “NEBRASKA HONOR CHOIR”: Moeka Oka, Emma Stock, Abby Burton, Quinn Constantino, Mana Paga and Ben Bartholow Only 100 of all middle school students in Nebraska make it into this group each year!


Attention Students: Student-Led Conferences are taking place tonight, Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Each student’s family has an appointment time. If you do not know your appointment time, please stop by the office and find out your time. If you have a later time (after 7:20 p.m.), visit your Special Area classes first and then report to your Team area.


After conferences tonight stop in at Freddy’s. From 4 until 8 tonight it is Andersen Middle School night. A portion of your purchase will come back to Andersen.

Academy will run from 3:00-4:00 p.m. today (Tuesday), since we have Student-Led Conferences starting at 4:00.


Beauty & the Beast- Please remember to have all songs and lines memorized by October 23. Have fun practicing your part with relatives and friends while you are on break this week! Hopefully you are also using your days off to become “Human Again”!!! Enjoy! Also please go to Beauty & beast google classroom and check out information about costumes. Wear black pants and black shirts under costumes please.

Can you imagine Mr. Alfrey dressed as a banana or Richard Simmons?  Ms. Heimes as Wonder Women or Cinderella?  Or Dr. Kerns as the tooth fairy or a Ghost Buster?  

This year for the United Way student drive, you can donate money and nominate a costume that you want our administrators to wear at school on Halloween.  


Here is what you do:

  1. Get a United Way envelope from your prime time teacher.

  2. Put your donation (dollar bills or coins) in the envelope and bring it to the commons before school Thursday 10/12 through Tuesday 10/17.

  3. Select which Principal’s bucket you what to put your envelope in.  Put your name and what costume you want that principal to wear on the envelope.  You can be creative with your costume idea, but remember to be school appropriate.

  4. Listen to the announcements to hear if your envelope was chosen for your costume idea.  Also, several student envelopes will be drawn from each bucket to win a prize!!


Every dollar that we collect will help students and families in our community! Thanks for donating!

6TH GRADE STUDENTS: The 6th grade dance is TODAY Friday, October 13th from 3:00-5:00 in the cafeteria and gym. Tickets can still be purchased for $4 at the door. Concessions will be sold during the dance, and the gym will be open for basketball. Come and have fun with your friends at your first middle school dance! PLEASE plan your rides for 5:00 sharp.




The Gathering: Tomorrow, Saturday, October 14th, The Gathering Club will be hosting a Spooktacular Halloween party! All Andersen students are welcome to attend. $20 will cover the cost of all-you-can-eat pizza for lunch, all games & prizes, breakfast, treats, a snack, drinks all day, and 4 raffle tickets. We will meet in the library from 9:30am - 6:00pm - please have your rides arranged accordingly. Wear your costume and be part of the costume contest! We’ll have a photo booth, party games, and many other Gathering Club games to play - as well as the ultimate trick-or-treat… Beanboozled! Look for the orange registration fliers outside of room 404 or ask your homeroom teacher!


Dear Andersen Family,

Andersen will hold its annual blood drive in support of the American Red Cross on Thursday, October 26.  Even though students are too young to donate, you can help out by encouraging the adults (and teachers!) in your life to donate blood.  Sign ups will be available during conferences.  If you refer an adult, you will receive a free gift!


Asset Leaders in Primetime:  If you would like to help out at our annual blood drive on Oct. 26, come to Mrs. Majkowski’s room (304) to sign up, starting Friday morning in Primetime.  Please check in with your PT teacher first. You can also come in before or after school on Monday or Tuesday of next week.


8th Peer Mediators and Ambassadors:  If you would like to help out at Conferences Monday and Tuesday with the cart for the teachers, please come to the counseling office and sign up.

Do you owe a library fine at the Millard library?  Omaha Public Library (OPL) will accept food donations during the week of October 15-22 to benefit the Alliance for a Better Omaha, a collaborative of Heart Ministry Center, Together, and Food Bank for the Heartland. OPL cardholders can donate non-expired canned goods and other non-perishable foods in exchange for credit toward overdue fines on their OPL accounts. For each food item donated, two dollars in current fines will be waived, up to a maximum of 10 items/$20.


Chess Club will  meet after school today in room 311, plan rides for 3:40.

Our format for this hexter is “Scrambleverse.” Each round, participants will play a randomly selected deck from the club collection. No worries that your opponent will be playing a deck of mythic rares - Mr. Lund has balanced the club decks so that it’s fair. Fliers are located outside room 404. Remember, club meetings have moved to room 305.

Millard South High School invites you to attend  a Show Choir Workshop. This exciting full-day event will take you through the steps of learning the vocals and choreography to perform a show. You will get to work with MSHS students and their Director. Go outside the  AMS choir room and pick up a sheet with more information!


Vocal Diversity : Please remember to practice all music on Vocal Diversity classroom by Friday Sept.22. Boys need to check out “Happy Together”.

Lots of students will be auditioning for Beauty & the Beast. That is great news! Please bring a pen or pencil to your auditions and your script & score. Have fun during your auditions; because there are so many students auditioning we are reminding all to be respectful and no talking so that we can move the auditions along in a timely manner.  Also here is the schedule for the week of Sept.25-Nov.16. If you are a Lead  you should expect to practice every Mon., Tues. & Thurs. After school. If you are a Musical Chorus member you will practice every Tues. & Thurs. These are all after school and will go until 4 or 4:30.

The Gathering: Tomorrow is The Gathering Club’s Saturday Spectacular Kickoff event! We’ll be in the Library at Andersen from 9:30am-6:00pm. The cost is $20 which now covers entry, all games and prizes, breakfast, lunch, a treat, a snack, drinks, 4 raffle tickets, and a whole day of friends, fun, and games! Even if you don’t know how to play, you can come and learn how to play tons of new games! Make new friends and earn prizes at our first big event of the year!

September 1, 2017 - A Day


Andersen students who are attending Millard South Varsity Football games at Buell Stadium are asked to follow these simple guidelines:


1. Leave all backpacks, gym bags and skateboards at home.

2. Body painting is not allowed in the stadium. Please do that at home.

3. Middle School students are expected to sit down in their assigned section and watch the game or talk with friends. Students are reminded not to hang out on the concourse area by the concession stand or the rest rooms.


Our supervisions will be looking for Middle School students who are modeling these behaviors at our games and will give out small prizes to a select few each game. See you at the game tonight! Gates open at 6:00 p.m. GO PATRIOTS!
