TALENT SHOW RULES IF YOU ARE SINGING:

*You can not sing along with a CD. This is always illegal.

* (Best Option)You must use a karaoke CD without the lead voice. There can be background singers.

*You may use sheet music and a pianist will accompany you while you sing (if you give me these early I can accompany you.)

*  OR, Mrs. Lovejoy can check your CD, AMS has a legal machine that reduces the lead voice so that you can sing alone with it. (Don’t worry, it doesn’t take it off permanently!) Most new CDs have newer technologies built in that do not allow this, though.

* You must use a purchased CD and not a burnt one.  If you are using an i-pad or your i-tunes from your phone, you much show us the email (or some receipt) that shows you bought it and didn’t just download it illegally.  Musicians work hard to make their music and pay lots of money to do so. Copying is stealing. Purchasing is legal.

*Everyone using music needs to go to this website and make sure your song can be used: Go to

http://www.ascap.com/    and click on Repertory then fill in your title and artist. If it is on there you may use that song.

These are copywriting laws and you must
